News: Commercial Catalyst in Research on Performance Impact of Competency and Capability Management
We led the research project in a consortium with Online Profiling Limited, The Project Academy and Havenshire Limited to delve into the value of best in class competency and capability management (CCM). A summary report of findings is now available.
Competency management is often justified on an intuitive basis. We sought to quantify its impact on business performance. We expected to find a modest positive correlation. Instead we found a stunningly large correlation. In every sector we examined, best in class outperformed the sector average by more than a factor of two, and up to a factor of more than four. We also found that the sweet spots for investing in CCM improvements are not at levels where businesses currently focus their expenditures.
